Based in more than one location

Christopher M. asked a question to Josh W.

Hi there, I'm based in both Bristol and London. Bristol for a degree apprenticeship and London where my family home is. Is it possible to do my 28 days of reservist requirement over 2 locations? Since I regularly travel back and forth. I'm interested in signals right now but open to other roles if it means flexibility in what centres I can go to.

    Hi Christopher,

Doing your reserve requirements over multiple locations that far apart is not likely to be possible as most reserve units are centred around a particular region. For example, you have 39 Signal Regiment in Bristol and 71st in London. Whilst they are the same type of unit they have different roles within the organisation etc.

We do have some national reserve units who either meet at a central location for training or remotely and this could be something you look into. Those units can be found in our search here - https://jobs.army.mod.uk/army-reserve/find-a-reserve-centre/.

Thanks so much for getting back. I understand about the far distance and the logistical difficulty of that. So do you mean ones based mostly in London? Anything specific to search for on that website?

National reserve units will have personnel from all over the UK and then they would travel to a central location rain which will be different for each one. There will be an option for national reserve on that site.
