Anonymous asked a question to Connor T.
My dream is to be a pilot. Ideally Apaches, I don’t have the grades to go to sandhurst so my plan is to become an aviation communications special and apply for the pilots course after promotion. However if for whatever reason I’m unable to become a pilot my back up was always to be a Para. So would I be able to try for the all arms P coy course in the army air corps?
Thanks for your question. The All Arms Parachute Course (PCoy) is open to all personnel in the army, however, the jumps course to qualify for your wings is more difficult to get on and those in the Parachute Regiment are very reasonably given first preference.
Completing PCoy does not mean you become a member of the Parachute Regiment however. You'd have to put in a transfer from the Army Air Corps to the Paras or, if making the choice during your application to the army, identify the Paras as your preference and pass the selection standards at the assessment centre.
Hope that helps.
