If you wish to fly in the Army there are 2 options.

1. Join as an officer and apply for the role of pilot whilst at Sandhurst. If successful you will join the Army Air Corps (AAC) as an officer pilot.

2. Join as a soldier and apply to be a Senior Non Commissioned Officer (SNCO) pilot.

This is the one I would recommend to someone in your situation. You can join any Corps/Capbadge as a soldier and when you reach the rank of Lance Corporal (average of 4 years) and have a recommendation for promotion to Corporal, are under 29 years old and pass a medical you can apply to be a SNCO pilot. If you pass aptitude and grading you will then attend the army pilots course. If you are successful in passing this, you will then transfer across to the AAC as a SNCO pilot.

As a SNCO pilot you get the best of both worlds. You can experience life as a Grenadier Guard and if you fancied a change and meet all the requirements, you can apply to be a SNCO pilot.
