I have graduated my LLB in International Law in the summer of 2021 and have the goal of joining the Army as a Legal Officer, however I haven't been able to secure a training contract and with COVID many firms have yet to announce training contracts for 2022 and the upcoming years. Is it an absolute requirement for me to have my training contract completed, or would I be able to still join as a Legal Officer without one? Thank you for answering!
Hi, unfortunately you have to have completed the Bar before you can join the ALS - ie have to be practising. An ALS lawyer is a 'PQO' (Professionally Qualified Officer) so you do need to be qualified. Sorry to disappoint.
