Thanks for your question. Most Regular roles will involve some element of travelling. Even roles that get fairly centrally located, such as the artillery in Larkhill, will need to go on exercise and deploy on operations from time to time.
However, if you are looking for a role in the army that means you can stay at home with your family, have you considered joining the Army Reserves?
There is likely to be an Army Reserve Centre near you and you can get the best of both worlds. You could choose to do the minimum training requirement when you want to spend more time with your family, or you can go on operations when you are able. The best thing about being a Reserve is that, if you love it so much you just wish you could do more, you can still choose to join as a Regular, or you can do more committed roles in the Reserve.
Good luck.
