Hi, could you tell me more about the Artillery Surveillance Observer roles?

I'm looking for something that will translate well to UKSF selection once I've got my foot in the door. My worry is that I'll regret not trying to start with the Marines instead of this. I understand Sphinx unit mostly start as this role?
