Hi, if it's your local Reserves unit then no. It's like individuals joining a local Royal Signals unit, they don't have to have any quals in communications, fibre optics etc etc. The Reserve unit you join will put you through the training and qualifications that they require. If you were after joining a National Reserve Engineering unit who specialise in Engineering (providing infrastructure support and advice to the MOD) then you would need an Engineering background and quals.
