Every role in the British Army is trained as a soldier first. This is because we can be asked to work anywhere and in any conditions, so basic close combat is an important part of training. Being in the Army, you may find yourself on a battlefield at some point in any role.

Combat roles build on basic training and go on to specialise in other combat capabilities. If this isn't for you, there are still lots of jobs out there. Broadly:

    • Engineering
    • Logistics & Support
    • Medical
    • Intelligence, Comms & IT
    • HR, Finance & Support
    • Music
