If I joined the SAS Reserve and was deployed on an exercise or tour, would I be paid for all 7 days of the week, or only for official training/working days?

Harry W. asked a question to Shayne P.

Could you also explain how pay works overall in the SAS Reserve — including the daily pay rate and roughly how many days per week are typically spent training or working during exercises and deployments?

Thank you for your question. All Reserve pay is for the days you do, so if you are working for the army, you will be paid. When you go on longer exercises you will be entitled to more money, and when you go on operations that amount increases again.

The amount of exercises or deployments you will do is incredibly varied because you are a volunteer. If you have time to do more, you can volunteer for more. The Special Forces are very busy, so if you want to spend lots of time in uniform, those opportunities exist.
