Is it scary being a woman in the army?

Anonymous asked a question to Ashley M.

I’ve been wanting to join for a long time and I’ve just started my application, I’ve told my friends and family but they all have been saying to join something else because of what’s been on the news and such

We have women serving in almost every job role across the Army. In fact, my last unit’s Commanding Officer was female. You’ll find women represented throughout the organisation in a wide range of trades and leadership positions.

I’d recommend giving it a proper look: visit your local Army Careers Centre, speak to the staff there, and ask any questions you have. If you can, try to connect with some serving female soldiers as well—they’ll give you genuine insight into what the experience is like.

Once you hear directly from people who are living it, your perspective might feel very different.
