Good Morning,
Before you enlist, my biggest advice would be to go in with an open mind and the right attitude. You don’t need to be the fittest, strongest, or most confident person on day one training is designed to build you into a soldier, not to test perfection.
Focus on improving your basic fitness, especially running, bodyweight exercises, and general endurance, as this will make the early stages much more manageable. Do your research on roles that interest you, but understand that flexibility is important; sometimes opportunities arise in areas you hadn’t originally considered and can turn out to be very rewarding.
Mentally, be prepared to be challenged, to take criticism constructively, and to push through discomfort, resilience and teamwork matter far more than natural ability.
Lastly, talk to recruiters and serving personnel, ask genuine questions, and be honest about who you are and what you want to achieve. If you show motivation, willingness to learn, and commitment, the Army will give you structure, skills, and opportunities that can set you up for life.
Regards
Matt
