Parachute Regiment then RaSP ( Royalty and Specialist Protection ) or RMP Close Protection Unit then RaSP

Is it worth joining RMP and spending years joining Close Protection Unit? Or joining Parachute Regiment and then going into the MET Police to also spend years joining RaSP, I’ve heard RMP is mostly a waste of time but would like opinions on it, I’m keen on combat and paras seems like a good fit.

    Hi Thomas,

This in essence would entirely depend on you and what your goals are.

A decision to join the RMP to subsequently join the MET would undoubtedly give you the "leg up" that could enable a much easier transition post Army career.

Having said that, I've known Paras to also make that switch when they move to a civilian job as well. Which also aligns to your eagerness to pursue the Paras.

Both would equip to with great opportunities to explore different avenues and further enhance your skills set.

I recommend researching both. Explore Base locations, Deployments and Sports to name a few. Armed with this information, i believe will enable you to make a decision as to which is the better option for you.
