My partner did the 3 day assesment last nov but got told no bc his nose was runy but got told if he finds out what it is Cary on found out he has allergies to grass and dust and has sent the results in. Would he be able to join? Would we be able to get military housing as bf+ gf expecting a baby?
Hello,
It's up to a clinician (not the soldiers on the 'Ask A Soldier' platform) to decide if your partner meets the medical standards required to join. Their medical record will be checked as part of the application process.
You'll be able to apply for Service Family Accommodation (SFA) once your partner leaves Initial Trade Training (ITT), which is the stage after Basic Training. It's impossible to put a definite date on when they would finish ITT because there are multiple elements to consider (like their chosen trade and how well they do in training). You should factor in at least a year from the Basic Training start date, meaning you likely wouldn't get SFA until after the birth if you are already expecting.
I hope that's helped to answer your questions. If you have any more feel welcome to follow up in the reply.
what is basic training like is it rough? how often do you get to see family when on basic traing
When taking part in basic training it is as tough as you make it. If you fail to come prepared then it will appear to be very difficult. During basic training you will not see your family. This is all a part of the training.
I second what Michael says. You do get a long weekend off half way through training, which you could use to see your family, but for the most part you won't be able to leave the training regiment to see your family. You'll also be able to call home most evenings if you're not on exercise or working late, which definitely helps.
