Thanks for your question. It really depends!
There a number of officer pilot roles and exercises might look different for each. A pilot officer or an instructor officer might go on exercise to support the field exercises of other units. Flying around training areas and carrying out tasks as they are required.
Pilot officers can also be used in ground roles on exercises, like advising commanders on the use of air assets.
