What is the difference between becoming an ammunition technician in the logistics corps or doing EOD and search in the corps of royal engineers

I am looking into getting into EOD and was wondering what the difference would be between becoming an ammunition technician in the logistics corps or going into EOD and search with the engineers, if there is a better route for someone wanting to go into EOD, if there is a difference in roles and responsibilities, if there was a difference in deployment patterns, etc and just thought id see if anyone knew. All the best and Thanks to anyone that responds,

    Hello,

Not being an expert in this part myself, I asked an Ammunition Technician who responded:

'The difference between the two is multifaceted, but the defining difference is that Ammunition Technicians (ATs) focus on the domestic front of EOD, responding to call outs within the United Kingdom, and only abroad when the correct training is received. A lot more EOD action is seen as current overseas deployments for EOD work are rarer.

Royal Engineers focus more on EOD in a combat zone, or overseas, they are more field work focused and complete a lot more field and combat training than ATs. Furthermore, ATs later on in their career can complete the highest known level of EOD training known as Advanced Manual Techniques (AMT), which Royal Engineers are not eligible to do. There is also the matter of pay, ATs are paid more due to not only having to perform EOD duties but as well as assuring the correct storage, handling, and disposal of ammunition.'

    I hope that helps!
