I’m looking to join next year I’m level 2 trained doing level 3 before I join what can I come to expect on the day to day duty’s
Good morning mate.
Upon successfully completing Phase 1 training, personnel who already hold a Level 3 qualification should present their certificates to their Section Commander on arrival at Phase 2 training. This may allow them to be placed on an accelerated training pathway, requiring them to complete only the specific elements of the course that are necessary. Following successful completion of Phase 2 training, they will be assigned to their first unit.
On arrival at their unit, they will hold the qualification of Class 3 Vehicle Mechanic. During the first six months, their primary objective will be to achieve Class 2 Vehicle Mechanic status. This process involves completing a task book or competency booklet containing a range of practical jobs and assessments that must be signed off.
Day-to-day duties will vary depending on the unit to which they are posted. In some cases, newly qualified Craftsmen may find themselves deployed on major exercises, including overseas training activities, within their first week of arrival. Alternatively, they may spend the majority of their time in camp carrying out maintenance, inspection, and repair work on the unit's vehicle fleet.
Please let me know if you have anymore questions about either being a Vehicle mechanic or Phase 2 training as I am currently a section commander in REME phase 2.
Kind regards,
Cpl Howard.
