When does the army intake nurses? I’ve read somewhere it’s only twice a year, but wanted to double check

    Good afternoon,

The Royal Army Medical Service run 2 Army Nursing insight events a year roughly around April and September, you are required to attend one of these to enter training. For more information please speak to a recruiter at your local careers office, you can also visit the Army Medical Services instagram to keep up to date with the goings on of the Regiment.

    Hope this helps.

Yes as mentioned there are insight courses that you must attend. There are only 2 intakes a year for Jan and September in line with the university year. The university for all nursing is done at Birmingham City University (BCU) so intake requirements for a student must meet the Army and BCU criteria. If applying already qualified then there is a different process but this would be explained to you by the NRC during your application.

That makes sense thank you, so I’m guessing the 2 intakes would be maybe May for September university start and September for January university start in order for basic training completion beforehand?

    Thank you

Yeah don't know exact months but they are in line with each other so you finish training and then go straight to university after. Your recruiter that you will be allocated for this will be able to give you the specific information as this is a specialist role which they hold the information for.
